ABSTRACT
Historic Buildings is imbued with a message from the past, the historic monuments of generations of people remain to the present day as living witnesses of their age-old traditions. Conservation Charters is essential as principles in guiding conservation work on international basis. Then each country should be responsible in applying the plan within the framework of its own culture and traditions.
Historic Building Conservation Guideline is look as a medium that used to control and assist all related parties. Guideline is important to safeguard the historical buildings for future generations to recognize.
The case study is on Historic Buildings Conservation Guidelines by Local Authorities which is Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Ipoh City Council and Taiping Municipal Council. The study is not only to compare the guidelines between respective local authorities but also to analyze the problem and attributes of its implementation to local authorities and building caretaker.
Conservation of historical building is needs to prevent the buildings to decay and deteriorated due to building ages. It is our duty to hand them on in the full richness of their authenticity.
